There Will Be an Educational Garden!

On April 30, 2016, an educational garden was laid out at the Green Cross Belarus NGO Educational Centre. Ten children and three lecturers from a branch of Minsk State Automechanical College n.a. academician M.S. Vysotsky” under the Republican Institute for Vocational Education, who are members of the union “Volunteer”, have prepared a ground and planted transplanted plants of fruit trees and bushes (apple, chokeberry, honeysuckle, gooseberry, arrowwood and other crops).

Laying out the garden is one of the steps of establishing an innovative and information ground at the organization’s centre within the framework of the initiative “Creating a Network of Innovation and Demonstration Grounds on Farming and Organic Agriculture to Promote Sustainable Land Use, Agricultural Labour among the Young, to Improve School Nutrition and to Get Income by Rural Schools” which is being implemented within the frameworks of the UNDP Project “ Supporting the Transition to a Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus”, financed by the European Union.

Moreover, laying out the garden done by the young has contributed to implementation of one of the initiative’s tasks: to promote ideas of a green economy and agricultural labour among the young. When working, the children learnt about peculiarities of various fruit trees and bushes, planting and growing technologies and social significance of the work and plans for using the future harvest.
