International Art Project for Children and Youth “In My Homeland”
A cycle of activities is to take place within the framework of the international art project “In My Homeland” from January 29, 2016 to February 4, 2016 at the Green Cross Belarus NGO Educational Centre in Kryukovshchina village, Smolevichi district, and at the Republican Centre of Ecology and Local History, Minsk, 8 Makaenka str.
On January 29, the jury of the International Art and Graphics Contest is to start its work. During 4 days, the jury will evaluate works of young artists, aged 5-18.
In 2016, the International Art and Graphics Contest will be held for the 11th time. More than 10000 works come from the whole world each year. This time, around 13000 works have come from Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Greece, India, Canada, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Thailand, Ukraine, the Philippines, Croatia, Sri Lanka, Estonia and other countries.
The jury will evaluate technics and craftsmanship, idea completeness and self-dependence. According to the jury board, it is very difficult to choose as works of a very high level are sent to the Contest, which makes more interesting choosing the best works.
On February 1, the jury of the International Animation and Filmstrips is to work. Although the contest is held for the first time, it has already aroused interest among young artists. 94 applications were submitted for the Contest from Belarus, Brazil, Germany, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine.
On February 2, there is an open show of cartoons and filmstrips with a discussion of the works and comments given by members of the jury board. Teachers will take part in the show who helped the children to make their cartoons. The show will be continued by a round-table discussion “Making Cartoons and Filmstrips as a Form of Working with Children. Objectives and Tasks”.
On February 3-4, the 7th International Conference of Artists-Teachers “Modern Artistic Education of Children and the Young” is to be held at the Republican Centre of Ecology and Local History, Minsk. As always, artists-teachers from the Republic and neighbouring countries will gather to discuss the current situation of artistic education, new methods and approaches, and to present their best practices. A part of the Conference will be dedicated to animation: experienced animated cartoon artists will hold a cycle of master classes for the Conference’s participants.
It should be noted that this is the only in the Republic and one of few specialized conferences in former Soviet countries dedicated to artistic education, work of arts schools and colleges. According to teachers, this Conference is practically the only opportunity to talk to colleagues from the whole Republic and neighbouring countries, to share experiences and to address issues together.
Two exhibitions are to be held within the framework of the Conference at the gallery “Nature and Art” of the Republican Centreof Ecology and Local Historyon February 2-7.
Within the framework of the exhibition dedicated to the performance of the shadow theatre of Children's Art School #2, St. Petersburgh, entitled as “Neva Stories”, silhouettes and scenes prepared for the performance will be displayed as well as some objects that inspired young artists.
At the exhibition in memory of Sergey Khryapin, works of his pupils will be displayed who attended classes at the studio “Zavyaz” founded by Mr. Khryapin in Vyazyn village, Vileyka district.
